TENANTS
Housing Search (Prevention and Shelter) to access safe, sanitary and affordable housing for homeless or near homeless families and individuals. Under this program, Housing Search Services are provided to the United Veterans of America shelter residents and Our Friends’ House, the BCAC homeless shelter for families. Housing search assistance is also provided to households that are at-risk of homelessness and whose tenancies cannot be preserved. This program also offers post placement prevention services (stabilization services) to all clients upon placement. Stabilization services are provided for a minimum of twelve months to lessen the chance of future housing problems and homelessness.
Legal and Educational Counseling on housing and related issues including, but not limited to; landlord/tenant law, lead paint laws, foreclosures/loss mitigation options, discrimination laws, employment and vocational options, public benefits eligibility and options, housing subsidy options, budget counseling, basic living skills assessment and training and community resource linkage.
Community Dispute Resolution Services (Mediation, Negotiation and Facilitation) to resolve housing, neighbor, landlord/tenant, real estate, consumer/creditor, and other civil disputes.
Court Dispute Resolution Services (Mediation, Negotiation and Conciliation) to resolve housing, neighbor, landlord/tenant, real estate, consumer/creditor, and other civil disputes.
Tenancy Preservation Project (TPP) provides assistance to at-risk Berkshire County households that are experiencing housing instability due to mental health issues, developmental disabilities and/or substance abuse. The TPP project offers intensive case management to client households. Case management includes the development of a service plan for each client. This program is provided in collaboration with the Housing Court
Department-Western Division
(Berkshire County) and therefore, most
of the TPP referral are made through the Housing Court.
